Storrington in Bloom’s local competition for 2018 was launched at the Storrington Duck Race on Sunday 13th May where we held a plant tombola to raise more funds towards our village centre displays. Thank you to everyone that came to see us at the event.

Spring is upon us and summer is on its way, we’ve been looking around at all the wonderful front gardens and community areas in and around Storrington but are sure we’ve missed some worthy of a look. So please make sure you tell us about them! You can enter our competition yourself or nominate someone else’s that you admire (or envy!). Click here for the entry form.

With thanks to Chanctonbury Lions and the Rotary Club of Storrington and Pulborough we are hosting another scarecrow competition this year, with the theme ‘Wedding Party’. For the enjoyment of residents and visitors to Storrington we have asked St Mary’s Church for permission to have them all displayed in the Churchyard this year so do look out for the display, and of course, work with your family or a local group to create an entry! Click here for the entry form.

Entries for the scarecrow competition, front garden and community area categories are invited until Thursday 28th June. Entry forms can be submitted by email to storringtoninbloom@gmail.com or can be handed in at The Card Shop.

Let’s make this our best year yet!

What a wonderful effort

Congratulations to everyone for their fantastic efforts in our first scarecrow competition – we saw some really unique ideas from businesses, families and groups. The results will be announced at our awards ceremony in September but for those of you that missed it here are just some of the photos.

Scarecrows are coming to Storrington!

We’re having a change this year. Instead of asking youth groups to enter a wheelbarrow competition we have decided to organise a scarecrow trail. Groups, young and old, have been invited to enter and in a separate category families have made their own entries. The scarecrows will be on display this weekend – Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th July between 9am and 5pm. Judges will be visiting the scarecrows during this time too.

The weather will be fine, so why not take a stroll around this weekend and let us know your favourites on our Facebook page. A full list of entries is here.

Thank you to all entrants for your efforts.

Entries are now invited for the 2017 local competitions which will be judged during July and August. Categories include front garden, allotment, external business display, community area and business window display. We are also introducing a scarecrow competition which we hope many groups and families will get involved in. Please click on the link for entry forms for the residential categories and the scarecrow competition or collect one from Joanna’s Boutique Tearoom, The Card Centre or Wood’n’pots’n’things. Come on all you budding gardeners – now is the time to show off! Don’t forget you can also nominate the front garden of one of your neighbours. (more…)

With thanks to our sponsors

And a BIG thanks to all our volunteers and local businesses without whom none of this would be possible.
