What a wet morning we had! Such a shame as Storrington Conservation Society and Friends of Meadowside teamed up to escort Barry Newman, the South & South East in Bloom judge along their Riverside Walk entry from Meadowside to Fryern Dell. Barry met the team at Foxmead Court (the McCarthy & Stone development on Meadowside) and enjoyed tea and cake with the view from their balcony over the site of the old tannery and bark mill before the heavens opened and the walk started! Barry was very positive about the collaboration between the two groups and the councils, commented on the quality of the portfolio which was produced, and was really encouraging about the Conservation Society’s plans for Fryern Dell. Obviously a number of areas for development were identified, not least the lack of signage / information along the route but we hope that his feedback will assist us in obtaining the support required from the relevant parties to enable us to get on with the very many projects in the area.
2nd Storrington Guides Help In Bloom
On Wednesday 9th July, 2nd Storrington Guides joined Friends of Meadowside in a clear up for Storrington in Bloom. The girls split in to two groups, one litter picking around the meadow area and stream, the remainder heading to the library car park with brooms and litter pickers to clean up the library car park and steps. In just over an hour between the group of 18 they managed to collect up 10 bags of rubbish and several large bits of metal and wood! This demonstrates how much it is possible to achieve in a short amount of time if you put your mind to it.
Storrington Summer Clean Up Day 2014
Brilliant turn out today to help clean the village in preparation for the judges coming on the 15th July.
We have pulled weeds, litter picked, set up displays, titivated planters and even eaten cake!

Storrington First School welcome the in Bloom Judges
Tensions are high at Storrington First School today as for the second year running they welcome the regional judges from the South and South East in Bloom.
Wishing them a very successful entry to the competition this year following their amazing Silver Gilt result in 2013
