Dry spell doesn’t stop gardeners

Posted

It’s been a challenging summer for gardeners with some unusual weather conditions. Storrington residents continue with their efforts in their front gardens and community areas and the shortlisted finalists have now been announced:

FRONT GARDEN

– 9 Bramber Avenue
– 10b Fryern Close
– 16 Fryern Close
– 56 Spierbridge Road
– 106 Dean Way
– The Horsecroft, Greyfriars Lane
– Lady Place, Monastery Lane

COMMUNITY AREA

– Eastbrook Court
– Hanover Walk
– White Horse Court

The winners will be announced at our annual award ceremony in September. It seems like a long time to wait, and it is – the team who coordinate the village entry know only too well as they wait until September to hear how that’s been scored too.

Huge thanks from Storrington in Bloom to everyone who has helped us get our entry ready and to those who either entered or nominated entries in our local competition and to the shop managers who made such a fantastic effort both with their external floral displays and the shop windows to support the entry. Special thanks to the young people of Storrington who entered our scarecrow competition (the churchyard display was much talked about) and to those at Storrington First School who were involved in putting together the pollinator mural.

With thanks to our sponsors

And a BIG thanks to all our volunteers and local businesses without whom none of this would be possible.
